[ ~~Let's pretend it's actually, you know, a sane hour of the morning for the purposes of this post, hm?~~ Poppet, for one reason or another, is in the library, doing research on this and that subject. It's become something of a habit to just come here and read for a while -- it helps her learn, and she doesn't even have to bother anyone for it.

The post actually begins, however, on a yelp of surprise and a series of loud thumps. ]

Oh, great. And my journal fell off, too!

[ That's what you get for putting your journal on top of a stack of not well balanced books. With a sigh she goes about gathering them back up and placing them on the table, only to pause when she sees that the journal fell open when it tumbled over. That gets a soft laugh, and she picks it up to keep speaking, so her voice comes through much clearer. ]

Sorry for anyone who heard that. I just dropped a few things, that's all.

[ with that, she'll go back to her reading. feel free to come bother her! ... certain experiments with certain very unfortunate effects entirely aside, of course. lucky the effects of that are just over the journal, eh? ]

Back home, I was responsible for taking care of our church's library. The sound of moving books is like the sound of home to me.

... all of my precious memories of home involve my friends. I was always happiest when I was with them. Home itself was dark, and it could be kind of sad, so I'm glad I had them with me.

What are you doing?

Studying, that's all. I like to come to the library just to read sometimes.

What are you studying then?

Nothing specific, really! I found an encyclopedia, so I've just sort of been flipping through it and stopping at the things that were interesting. [ quiet laugh ]

Did you find anything interesting then?

Well, some of the sections I stopped on were humor, illusions, ventriloquism... [ laughs ] That last one sounded really funny to me. Throwing your voice sounded like it'd be really hard. I tried it, but I couldn't do it.

It's like acting though, isn't it? Or is it different?

It's definitely different, unless acting normally involves making it sound like your voice is coming out of something else besides you. The encyclopedia talked about how it was supposed to make it sound like a puppet you were holding was speaking, while you didn't seem to say a word... it sounded so cool.
