[ ~~Let's pretend it's actually, you know, a sane hour of the morning for the purposes of this post, hm?~~ Poppet, for one reason or another, is in the library, doing research on this and that subject. It's become something of a habit to just come here and read for a while -- it helps her learn, and she doesn't even have to bother anyone for it.

The post actually begins, however, on a yelp of surprise and a series of loud thumps. ]

Oh, great. And my journal fell off, too!

[ That's what you get for putting your journal on top of a stack of not well balanced books. With a sigh she goes about gathering them back up and placing them on the table, only to pause when she sees that the journal fell open when it tumbled over. That gets a soft laugh, and she picks it up to keep speaking, so her voice comes through much clearer. ]

Sorry for anyone who heard that. I just dropped a few things, that's all.

[ with that, she'll go back to her reading. feel free to come bother her! ... certain experiments with certain very unfortunate effects entirely aside, of course. lucky the effects of that are just over the journal, eh? ]

[Hand holding yaaay. So he'll go ahead and scoop by one of the shops to grab some skates before leading her to the lake. :D]

[ oh god what are these skate things are those blades why are they sharp you put them on your feet what is this? either way she'll probably end up holding her pair so she can inspect them from every angle while making such a FACE. see icon, in fact. ]

[Meanwhile, Riku will demonstrate how to put them on, fff.]

It shouldn't be too hard...

[ this is so fascinating. poppet's face is in a permanent state of :O as she follows his lead and tries putting them on ... though she has to sit down to do it. eventually she manages to get both of them on and laced up. standing is another matter. ]

[This is awkward, actually. He's...never done this before, but Riku's at least trying to stay balanced.]

Need some help?

[ at least the ground is more or less solid near the lake, so their blades don't sink into the ground. she shakes her head, wobbling her way onto her feet. she has to pinwheel her arms and everything, but sooooort of mostly manages it. ]

Jeez, this is hard! What do we do now, anyway?

Just... move around, I guess.

[Must maintain balance, aaaand... ah, okay. He's got it. Now watch as Riku sliiiides ahead, heh heh.]

[ WOAH HEY. .. tries to mimic him and promptly falls onto her butt. ] Ow...

[Ack! Not as planned. Here, he'll skate back over to her, offering a hand.]

You okay?

[ takes the hand up, wobbling still ]

I'm fine! It's not as easy as you make it look, though.

[Shruuug.]

I'm just improvising. Maybe we should stick close for now, though. Last thing we need is for you to fall down again.

[ l-laughs a little bit ] If you don't mind... I need to stay upright, at least, before I can manage anything else!

Hey, it's no problem.

[He'll keep a hold on her hand, in fact.]

[ can has wobbly side-by-side skating, then? c: ... except for the part where, a minute or two in, she stumbles again. do you: a) catch her, b) let her fall, c) laugh. ]

[Catch her, of course!]

[ good choice, because you now have a blushing poppet wrapped up in your arms. ] S-Sorry...

[He shakes his head, flashing her another Riku smile.]

Nah, don't be. We can stop if you want, but that's up to you.

[ dear god, man, you're going to completely melt her heart(?) if you keep doing that. forgive her if she snuggles into your arms for a second, okay. but she does, with obvious regret, pull away after a moment. ]

No, I want to keep trying!

[ and this time she pushes off on her own. she stays on her feet, this time! still wobbling, but she's doing it! ... sorta. ]

[Snugglessss... They should totally go someplace warm and have some aderpable stuff going on when they're done. In any case, Riku nods, following close behind her.]

There you go.

[ Giiiive her a moment. Because she'll slowly get more confident, steadying, until she can finally push off strongly and stay balanced. Gliding across the ice = AWESOME. ]

Riku, look, I'm doing it!

Think you can keep up with me?

[And just to tease her, he'll... skate riiiight around her!]

[ aslkfjshd MISTER ... IT IS SO ON. she puts on a determined face and skates to catch up with him, then blows past him, finally heading further out onto the lake's surface. ]

I think so!

Now you're asking for it!

[Now watch Riku try to outdo her in speed.]

[ NOT FAIR, HE IS TALLER AND HAS LONGER LEGS. but she tries, leaning forward a little and unintentionally streamlining herself, picking up speed. ]
