[ Waking up in a forest in a white sundress when it's cold and snowing is no fun at all, especially when she is dead certain she's not supposed to be here at all. She's clutching the journal she found to her chest as she makes her slow way through the trees, shivering violently. Every so often she stops and sets the journal down so she can cast a Fire spell to try and warm her hands a bit. She's desperate to find some shelter, anywhere she can get out of this cold and just have a moment to think through what the heck is happening here.

But she has no idea where she's going, and finally she stops, letting a few particularly hard shivers pass before she looks down at the journal in her arms. Her musings are a little muddled by her teeth chattering, yes. ]

I don't understand... I'm n-n-not supposed to be here, and I don't even know what happened to my clothes, or what this little book is for.

[ And she glances over her shoulder, frowning softly. ]

And I've g-g-got these wings ... last time I checked, I definitely didn't have wings.

[ Heaving a sigh, she hugs the journal close to her chest again, and rubs a hand up and down one arm, staring at the sky. ]

W-W-What's going on...?

[ hoveringggggg. but, well -- there's no sense in waiting. she approaches, a bit shyly, and waves. ]

Hi, Axel.

Look who's back. [Pulls his hand away and grins. Well this is fun.]

[Well, that voice woke him up. Sits up and just sort of... stares. He's confused, surprised, and something else he can't place all at once.]

...Xion.

[ oh dear. what to do with that look. this is going to be so hard to do over and over again, but she steels herself anyway and moves to stand beside Roxas instead of hovering behind him. ]

Long time no see.

She just got here. [Nope, derpxas has no idea what's going through either of their heads.]

[He scratches the back of his head. Roxas seems to be happy enough, but Axel never really got his questions answered the last time Xion was here, so he's still suspicious about a few things. So forgive him if he tenses up after the surprise wears off.]

Has it?

[ it's not like she can't see right through you, Axel. she sighs quietly and fiddles a bit with the sleeves of Roxas's coat. ]

... you tell me. I know I was here before, but I don't remember it, or how long it's been since then. If ... if there's anything you want to ask me, you can ask. I know you and Roxas don't remember everything, so ... it's okay.

...it's okay if she stays here with us, right, Axel? [Nooow he's starting to clue in that things are uncomfortable.]

[Man, what a thing to wake up to. He sighed and stood up from the couch, just glancing at Roxas a moment before looking down at Xion sternly. There was always one thing nagging at him when Xion showed up last time, and he never got the chance to get answers from her or Naminé.]

Under one condition. I have two questions and you're going to answer them, Xion. Can you manipulate memories like Naminé?

[ Well, to her credit, she doesn't back down. Her expression turns stern to match his, for just a moment ... but that first question genuinely startles her. she shakes her head. ]

No... why would you think so?

[ she can't help but glance at Roxas, then back at Axel, confused by the bizarre (to her, at least) question ]

...[Yeah don't look at him, he's just as confused too.]

[He glances at Roxas again, almost nervously. He's never talked to him about the events in Castle Oblivion, but...]

Before you were here last time we had no memory of you, then they slowly started coming back. And, well, it wouldn't be the first time I've seen memories tampered with. So you can see why I have to be suspicious.

... [ she ducks her head so he can't see the look on her face. ]

You didn't remember me because I faded. And I ... I was made of memories. Someone else's memories. Once those memories came apart and went back to where they belonged... it became like I never existed at all. There was no "me" to remember ...

Naminé would do a better job explaining it.

...[That's going to bring up another question though.] Axel, what do you know about that?

Know about what? And Naminé isn't here right now so you're going to have to explain a little better, Xion.

I don't know what you want me to say!

[ it comes out harsher than she means it to, and she pauses, taking a breath. ]

You knew this before... I'm a replica, Axel. Of Sora's memories of Kairi. I wanted to give those memories back... and when I did, I disappeared. It was like I never existed at all, so I vanished from everyone's memories... or I should have.

I guess seeing me again is reminding people... Xaldin remembered, too. And Xigbar.

[ she shakes her head. the thing that is making her most unhappy, her greatest anxiety, voices itself before she can think to stop it ] I knew everyone would forget me. I was ready for that... but this is the worst.

...you're still Xion though.

[That makes him pause hard. For some reason this all just... makes sense. Even if he doesn't really remember it. But now he's starting to feel guilty. The doubts he had before about her were starting to go away, because there's no way she could fake this. He didn't fully remember everything but some part of him was remembering.]

—the replica project. It was funny how I never noticed that about you, even after the Riku replica.

[ okay, just ... give her a moment. slightly overwhelmed, she presses her face into her hands, just trying to collect her thoughts. she's quiet like that for a moment, then slowly lowers them and gives Roxas a weak smile. ]

[ but when she looks at Axel again, there's something strange in her eyes ] ... the other replica ... was of Riku? Vexen wouldn't tell me...

[ with yet another deep, calming breath ] What was your second question?

[He smiles back a bit but then he looks at Axel again] ...Replica?

[Oh boy. Ignoring the replica questions now kay. Scratches his head again, too.]

It's already been answered. There's a spare bedroom next to mine you're welcome to.

[ startled ]

Are you sure you really want me here?

Of course we do.

We do, got it memorized? And hey, maybe it'll bring back some more memories.

[Yep, he's grinning now.]

[ after staring at them both for a moment in shock, she ... finally starts to smile, a shaky thing that is both sad and infinitely grateful, and even manages a weak laugh ]
