[ There is a girl in the village plaza who looks rather out of sorts as she sits on the ground, legs out to her sides, in a random sort of spot. She is kind of blank-faced as she stares at the other passers-by, with only a hint of confusion in her brow to betray how she's feeling.

Though it might be hard to see her face clearly under that short cape she's got on. It's black, with silver tassels. And though she's trying to watch what's going on around her, at the same time, it's like she wants to hide. But then, why isn't she moving away?

Maybe it has something to do with the carton of eggs on the ground next to her.

Though it probably has something to do with the fact that she now has white wings for arms. Can't really pick up a carton of eggs when you don't have hands, can you?

So the strange hooded girl with the feathered arms, at a loss, will just sit there for a while trying to figure out what to do.

God help you if you step on her eggs, though.

"'Poor little ugly duckling!" she would say. 'Why are you so different from the others?' And the ugly duckling felt worse than ever. He secretly wept at night. He felt nobody wanted him.

'Nobody loves me, they all tease me! Why am I different from my brothers?'" ]

(ooc; The Ugly Duckling, everybody. And yes, the pic is just a reference -- her feathers are actually white, not brown, and she's not wearing any other pieces of that costume. Cape, bird arms, and then her normal clothing beneath.)

[ ... she pulls the corner of her mouth down in an uncertain sort of frown. ] I dunno if that'll work...

Maybe not. But it can't hurt to try. It's better than being spoon fed, am I right?

... that's true ... okay, I'll try it. But I'll need your help... [ Her expression is a question. ]

Sure. We'll grab a fork and some string at the store. [Which he'll start walking towards.]

Wait, Sokka! [ She gets to her feet. ] ... can you carry my eggs? I don't want to leave them here.

Eggs? [He glances down at them and frowns.]

Why do you need eggs?

I dunno! They're just important. Please?

Fiiine, okay. [Picking them up now, jeez.]

I hope you're not planning to go sit on these and hatch them.

N-No! I'd break them! ... I just want to keep them safe. [ Fidget. ] Come on, let's go.

[Whatever you say duck girl. He totes the eggs over to the general store. Once inside, he'll set them on a shelf to find a fork and string.]

You won't be able to cook those eggs like this, you know.

[ HORRIFIED. ]

I don't want to cook them! That's awful!

But... that's what the eggs are for!

Sokka ... [ She holds up her arms. ] Duckling, remember?

But you said you didn't want to- [Argh! Nevermind.] Let me just... find the string.

[ She DOESN'T want to hatch them! Just ... you know, keep them safe. JEEEEEEEEZ. ] Okay... [ Gonna stand next to the eggs. GUARDING THEM. ]

[A little rummaging around and he returns.]

Okay, I've got it. Just hold still. [String! Scissors! And a fork. He waits for her wing.]

[ ... she holds it out, still looking rather uncertain. but she trusts Sokka! this can't go wrong. .... right? ]

[Tying tying tying, and here we go, snip snip. She looks utterly ridiculous now. But she has a fork attached to her wing, nice and tight!]

Perfect! What do you think?

[ She stares at it.

Then at him.

Then at her wing again. ... and she shrugs. ]

Well, I think it'll work! Though ... I might end up poking somebody. I'll have to be careful.

Well, no one said fork hands weren't without risk. But now you should be able to eat.

... that's better than nothing. [ Said with something like faint humor. ] Now I'm a duckling with a fork wing. I don't think this can get any stranger.

Well you don't have a beak yet. Count yourself lucky for that. [Small blessings. Don't forget them.]

[ lkjgfhalkjs ] Don't say that, you'll jinx it!

Don't be so superstitious! You'll be fine. [Though a beak would look pretty funny on her...]

... if you say so. Now I just have to get back home...
