[ Sometime during the night, the Malnosso robots dumped Xion off where they'd picked her up -- square in the middle of town. There and gone, quick as you please, leaving an unconscious girl behind.

However, she quickly comes to, stirring blearily and slowly sitting up. ]

Where....?

[ And then her eyes go wide. Something looks ... different. At this time of night -- or morning, really -- the sun is only just barely starting to come up, turning the sky a deep, dark blue. It's just light enough to see by, but can't properly be called morning yet.

And in this mock twilight, Xion sees that Luceti suddenly seems horribly familiar yet bizarre at the same time. She sits stunned for a moment, unable to process what she's seeing, then looks over her shoulder at the fountain.

What she sees makes her yelp. ]

Whoa! But that's... what is... no way! I'm still in Luceti, right? But how...

[ This is too strange. Xion locates her journal, conveniently nearby as always, and immediately starts talking into it, too curious and excited to really stop and care about the fact that she just got back. ]

Axel! Roxas! Are you guys awake? Have you seen the town yet? It looks -- it looks so much like Halloween Town! I thought I was actually there when I woke up...

[ Xion looks away from the journal to stare in wonder around the spooky town. Finally, she stands, a smile spreading across her face. ]

I wonder what all this is about...

[ Another pause. Then Xion gives another abrupt shout of surprise and drops her journal, unable to stop herself from exclaiming aloud ]

What am I wearing?! Are these... are these bunny ears...?

(ooc; this, ftr. also, she happens to be covered in bruises, which is much more apparent with all that skin bared. she'll be noticing it belatedly in threads instead of here in the post proper. don't worry; at least she didn't feel any pain, right? :|b

ps this is going up more or less in real time, at 6:30 in the morning or so.

[ pause. Xion has to take a moment to register this voice, since the first time she heard it, she was five. After a moment, however, she registers the voice ]

Giles! You can talk again? [ :o ] But, um... not really. I mean, this place looks really familiar now, but I don't know why it looks this way.

Oh. Um...[Wow. Yikes, that's right. He remembers suddenly that this is the first time they've spoken properly, without direct interference by the Malnosso] Yes. For a few days now, actually. Sorry, I've just, um, been a bit preoccupied.

From what I've heard, this isn't what they did last year. The Organization, I mean. Well, the costumes, yes, but not the town.

[ pause. it takes Xion a moment to get around the word "Organization," with it's obviously capitalized "O." It ... makes her think of a rather different Organization.

with a shake of her head she realizes who he must actually mean. ] It's okay. You don't have to apologize. I've been with the Malnosso anyway.

All I know is this place looks just like another world I've visited before. I wonder how the Malnosso found out about it... or maybe it's just a coincidence...?

They know...rather a lot about us, it seems. A friend of mine has wings that are apparently the exact color of a crayon she liked in kindergarten.

It's all very unnerving.

... that's pretty creepy. [ Xion looks around her again, no longer as excited as she was. After all, her memories of Halloween Town aren't all that positive, considering how the Organization she knows sent her and Roxas here in a ploy to make them kill each other.

sigh. ]

I guess all we can do is hope that whatever they have planned, it isn't too bad. The Halloween Town I remember had lots of Heartless in it, but I don't think they'll show up here... at least, I hope not.

Heartless? What are they?

... a long story. They're monsters from my world, basically. They eat hearts.

[Blink.]

But you don't think they'll appear here?

... I don't think so ... I mean, if they were going to show up along with this change, we'd know it already because they'd probably be attacking people. If no one's seen anything or been hurt, then I doubt they're here. I guess they could show up later, though...

Well, could they attack so that we wouldn't know?

Where does this place remind you of, anyway?

... I don't think so. I've never thought of them as being very subtle, anyway... [ large bodies aren't very good at hiding themselves. ] Trust me, we'd know if they were here.

Oh, this other world I've been to before! Halloween Town... it was big and dark, with lots of pumpkins with glowing eyes and a big graveyard and stuff like that.

"Halloween Town"?

Hm. Well, that certainly sounds like what we've been dealing with. Is it actually a town all about Halloween, or am I missing something?

Well... I guess it's all about Halloween. I've never actually experienced the holiday outside of that world before! If Halloween is just like what Luceti looks like right now, then yeah, it was all about Halloween.

Halloween is...basically like what Luceti is right now. Or, at least, this is how most people imagine Halloween.

It's kind of weird... I feel like I'm back there all over again. It was really confusing to wake up to. I thought I'd left Luceti for a second.

If only.

Still. If we're only dealing with cosmetic changes, I suppose it could be worse.

[ a pause ] ... maybe for others. I think by now, though, I'd be sad if I left Luceti. My whole life is here. I know it's not that way for everyone, though.

I hope so! The costumes and the town... if this is all that happens, Halloween could be pretty fun.

No, it's okay! Believe me, just a little while ago I was wishing I could leave. But I realized I have a lot of precious people here... Luceti does a lot of bad things, but without this place, I wouldn't have the friends that I do. They're like the family I never had back home. I hope you find something special in this place for you too, Giles.

Most of my friends from home are here. Including...one I never thought I'd see again. And there are a lot of people here that I'm glad to have met.

But, unfortunately, I know there's a lot due to happen to me back home, as well.

Really? That's great! ... the part about having people you care about, I mean. Not the part where you know what's going to happen to you back home... is it bad?

That happened to-- ... to a friend of mine. He found out all these terrible things that would happen if he went home. At least there are some good things too, right?

Yes, there are. [He's been focusing a lot on the bright side] And I'm...trying to fix the bad, while I'm here.

[ truthfully, she does have some idea. despite everything Riku said, he still went home and fell to the darkness. but maybe it'll be different, for Giles. ]
