... is it strange to sometimes wish you could go home? Even if there's nothing there for you? [ nothing except death, in her case. this isn't hilariously morbid or anything, no. ]

I'm just not sure when or how things got so ... complicated. Is this just what life is like...?

[ Xion is outside today, somewhere a little more quiet. She's sitting on the railing of the bridge that passes over the river between houses 14 and 35, swinging her legs gently as she holds onto the rail with one hand and the journal with her other. It ... doesn't seem terribly safe, but then again, she's used to much higher places. Feel free to startle her from her contemplation. She could use it. ]

Huh? What's wrong? [Sora doesn't get up and move away, instead leaning forward a little more to try and see her face more clearly. Something's obviously bugging her, but he never has been and never will be able to read her mind.]

[ swings her legs, gently. ]

... not just weird. [ she shifts a little. Sora is ... Sora, but Riku is still his best friend. Can she talk to him about something like this? ] ... maybe I shouldn't have taken it so personally, but what he said about the Keyblade really hurt.

...Yeah, I know. [Sora isn't stupid, when it comes down to it. He knows he can be kind of oblivious sometimes, but he isn't stupid. Even if the Keyblade doesn't do the same kind of thing to him as it does to Xion, having it's been hard on him as well, even if not to the same degree.] He just... doesn't get what it's all about. Didn't. Doesn't? Di- I don't know. I was asleep that whole year, I didn't see him go through all that stuff... I saw him hit rock bottom, though. I... think he kind of needed that, a little.

[He loves Riku - BFFs forever and all that sort of thing. But Sora grew up on his journeys too, and he knows that some of what happened, to Riku at least, was necessary. He took it too far, but it was necessary.]

[ she is so relieved she sighs audibly. why are you so awesome, real thing. ]

I know. And it feels horrible to think that, but ... he needed to realize what the Keyblade really was.

[ she glances at him, eyebrows knit. ] ... I still don't really know how to talk to him, though. I know I should forgive him, but ... it still hurts, what he said.

[Because he is! You're pretty awesome yourself there, clone-sister.]

[And now he moves again, bringing up an arm to put around her shoulders as comfort and a sense of togetherness.]

...But you wanna forgive him, right? It's just hard moving on with those feelings pressing down on your heart. 'Cause you can't ignore them but you really want to. You just want everything to go back to the way it was before.

[ how do you know her pain? Xion just looks away, not reacting to the arm around her shoulders, but definitely not pushing him away, either. and she just looks goddamn sad as she nods wordlessly. ]

[Since he went through it himself, on the first trip. Same guy, even - difference being, Sora's already gotten past that part. They made up - better friends than ever. But the Riku in Luceti now isn't that person, and that's making things more difficult.]

He's gonna come through. [And Sora being Sora, he's trying to sound upbeat and confident for his kid sister, but he really does think it's true, and he even laughs a little at the thought.] Riku always comes through - even if sometimes he's gotta come through the hardest way he possibly could.

... [ nodnod. ] I ... I think I believe that. I just ... I need time. It's still hard to process everything that's happened, especially since he disappeared right after like that... I was so scared he wouldn't come back. [ leans against her bro. :< ]

Riku always comes back. Always. You'll see - things'll get better, even if I have to make him get them better.
