oo41 [ action ]
[ Today, you are having a perfectly normal day. Perhaps you are on your way to the battle dome. Perhaps you're walking home along the path. Perhaps you're in the middle of town. Or perhaps you're heading further north.
If you're anywhere along this meandering south-to-north route, a young girl is going to slam into you at a full tilt. She's very sorry; she didn't see you there. But she's got this sense of absolute panic she can't quite shake, and she wants to get home right this moment.
In her disorientation, she has, of course, forgotten she can access magical portals of darkness. Forgive her; after all, she spent rather a long time here without them! And who wants to be messing about with the forces of darkness when they are too panicked to think straight?
Anyway, she may slam into you so hard that you both fall over. Or maybe she'll just knock you off balance. Either way, there is now a very startled, dazed, and still somewhat panicked teenager staring at you with wide eyes. She's barefoot, and her dress is dirty, but she seems otherwise alright. What will you do? ]

You were happy then, right?

... Sora ... why are you asking me these things?

... I was happy then ... at least, I thought I was. But ... not always. A lot of bad things happened back then, too. But ... Sora, I appreciate it, I really do, but ... you can't make it stay that way. [ She smiles, a little. ] All you have to do is be my friend. After all, that's ... that's all I want.

You've got it, Xion.

No. I just... Roxas told me a little bit about his life before he came here, that's all.

Not everything, I don't think. But... most of it.

... does he know the truth? Sora ... last time he was here ... he'd been in a coma when she died. And even back home, he was still asleep...
Does he know ... about Roxas? ] I ... Sora, I ...
... everything I did ... I did it because I wanted to. [ She stares at the ground, suddenly so sad. ] I shouldn't have -- I shouldn't have gotten R-- anyone else involved, but ... in the end, I know I did the right thing. Roxas... I think it took him a little longer. But ... in the end, I think what both of us wanted was ...
[ She trails off, and just looks up at him, and smiles, sad and faint and crooked. ]

[an irrational part of him is afraid that she'll disappear if he does. she'll be a forgotten part of him, like a wayward thought on the tip of his mind that he just can't conjure, no matter how hard he strains. another part still is silently blaming himself.]
I know. [he finally manages.] I know that things happened the way they did because it was supposed to... fix things. [it still seems strange to Sora to even think of it that way.]
But every time I think back about it, I can't help but feel like things aren't fixed. [Sora knows that it was her decision, but he still thinks that Xion didn't deserve to just... disappear, no matter who she is or what she holds. his own smile is fairly faint.]
I don't really know how else to describe that feeling, I guess.

I promise I will. All right?

Sometimes she thinks it's a marvel that he doesn't quite see. Why they all do so much for him. Why ... he's so special. ]

[but then those slightly raised eyebrows relax, and he squeezes her hand back.]
