oo39 [ action ]
[ There is a creature in the plaza.
Though initially it hid behind the clothing shop, it seems to be venturing out now, just slightly ... looking for an opening to sneak away.
Can this creature summon portals on its own? Xion does not understand it, this body. She has seen these things before, of course, but to BE one? It's strange and terrifying. She'd known before, when she had Sora's face, felt it, but ... hadn't that been an exception? She'd tried -- right now, she couldn't even talk. And she could feel it. This wrong face, this wrong body, not hers. The only thing that might mark her, right now, is a curious (possibly cruel) artifact the Malnosso let her keep upon her return. Around the creature's neck, on a chain, is a ring. Xion does not seem to have realized it is there. She has rather more important things on her mind, after all.
Turned into a Dusk. The one threat Xemnas always turned on his members should they become unruly. She'd known. But how... he's not here! She'd only been taken for a night at most. How could the Malnosso....
What is wrong with her?
Should you be about in the evening, you may see this creature trying to rush, twist, and dart its way back to house 14 in that odd, swaying way Dusks seem to move.
But be careful if you run into her while you're out -- she just might turn into someone else entirely. ]

[as it should be. silently, he pulls his hand away from Xion's shoulder and climbs to his feet, standing over her. his expression is even, but not unkind, when he reaches down to offer his hand, wanting to help her stand.]

For a moment, Xion simply looks at his hand, rubbing at her eyes even as one errant tear escapes to roll down her cheek. Then she looks up at his face.
...
Wordlessly, she takes his hand -- and his help -- and pulls herself to her feet.
She wants to speak, but ... she has no idea what to say. What do you say in the face of something this awful? This terrifying? She can only look at him for a moment before ducking her head, ineffectually rubbing at the tears that come, unbidden, and continue to fall. ]

C'mon, Xion. Let's go home. [there's nothing else that he can do-- and maybe home is the only place she needs to be right now. he trusts their friends to understand and help as best as they can.]

[ She has not let go of his hand. Quite the opposite -- she's squeezing it now, another sign of the fear she feels. Though if her expression is any indication, she's already half-convinced to go. There's even resignation in her tone. But ... she's still scared, and she feels awful. ]

Friends accept each other for who they are. No matter what.

... I know. Thanks, Sora.
[ But now something else is on her mind. Something ... kind of related to this. She's only silent for a moment before the question comes out ]
... actually, there was something I've been wanting to ask you. For a while now.

... this ring, I ... I got it during the last experiment. I don't know if ... if you remember ... [ she trails off. ]

[so that perplexed expression doesn't linger; it just switches to one of understanding. what he doesn't really understand, though, is how nervous Xion seems about it-- and maybe the dots in his mind will connect and it'll hit him momentarily, once he pauses to think on it-- but right now, what Sora's seeing is a gift from someone really important, like how he views Kairi's thalassa charm. encouraging smiles have always been a personal strength for him, so the corners of his mouth tug up in his best.]
That's really important to you, isn't it?
no subject
... it ... in the experiment, it ... Luke and I were going to get married. [ The words come out all in a rush. She blushes and looks terribly awkward, almost upset. ] This was ... this was supposed to be the engagement ring. Of course we're not really going to, now, but...
[ ... she trails off, then finally risks a look at him. Oh, yes, she does look sad. ]
... Sora, I'm a part of you. I have your memories. I can't... I'm not supposed to...
[ She looks away again, clutching the ring. The message is pretty clear: I'm not supposed to have things. I'm not supposed to have my own life.
But she can't make those words come out. This is hard enough already. ]

Can I ask you something? [but he blurts it out before she even has a chance to answer:] What happened when you and Luke first met?
no subject
The very first time? ... he was still new here. We walked around the village and just talked for a long time... I was helping him find a place to stay. [ She smiles at the memory. Gosh, it's been a long time since she thought of that. Even then, their very first meeting, he was so easy to talk to... ]
no subject
That's not any memory of mine. And as far as I'm concerned, Xion, as long as you've got memories of your own, it doesn't matter who or where you came from. You have the right to keep the memories you've got, and to make more.
[Sora doesn't remember it, but he'd already promised something similar to the girl Xion looks like right now. they'd meet the proper way. make their own memories. maybe somehow, unconsciously, that's why the idea comes so easily to him.]
no subject
She just ... stops. She stops walking. And she stares at him. With eyes that are wide, and suddenly overbright.
Before he can get too far, she'll catch back up -- assuming he kept going -- and throw her arms around him.
To make more....
To live her own life. Her very own life. ]

[he's a good hugger, just a bit slow on the uptake sometimes.]
