[ Xion actually made all those filters fairly early in the day before bolting out of the house. She couldn't stay there-- anywhere near Riku right now-- it's too much.

Not that she won't be ducking out of sight at any glimpse of red hair.

She needs that letter....

If you ... if you ever need a safe place to stay, Ven, you can ... come stay at the house. I can get one of the secret keepers to tell you and Aqua where it is.

He's probably been waiting for the right time. Chances are, he'll try something as soon as he gets the chance.

[Well, that suggestion's caught him off guard.]

What a ruckus... Xion jumps, and does take a quick look around, but ...

S-Seeing no immediate danger from having her name yelled out quite loudly for ALL TO HEAR (no fon Fabres have suddenly popped up from behind any corners), she places a hand over her chest and heaves a sigh. Then she manages a smile, and waves back. ]

Hey, Oswald. What's up?

[He just wanted to make sure he got Xion's attention, since she was standing sooo far away (except not really). Once she waves back, he dashes towards her.]

Just out for a walk. Hey, is it just me, or does the village seem gloomier all of a sudden? [He was gloomy during the experiment, but now that it's over, everyone else seems to be in a bad mood. Or maybe they were just in a really good mood the last week.]

Gloomier? ... yeah, it does. [ that's kind of a crooked smile. ] Considering the experiment last week... It's going to be hard for a lot of people to sort through what happened.

What, 'cause of the tree? Are people missing it that much? [Herpderp, he totally didn't notice people were randomly falling in love with the first person they spoke to. He figured it was Valentine's Day lasting six days too long.]

[ ... gosh, does he not realize? ]

I don't think it's that... this happened last year, too. We just all forgot. That experiment... always makes people fall in love with each other. Even if they're total strangers... or even enemies.

[Long silence. He looks pretty thoughtful. Then, finally...]

[ nods. ]

I realized what was going on, towards the end, but ... there's not a lot you can do about it while it's still happening. So the whole village is trying to deal with feelings that weren't even real...

[ cups her face with a hand, the look in her eyes far away. Luke...

with a shake of her head, she returns to the present, and looks at him. ] So ... by the way you're asking, I'm guessing you didn't fall in love with anyone, huh?

[Jeesh, it's a good thing he didn't fall in love with anyone. Imagine having feelings for someone who isn't Ortensia, even if they aren't real... He used to be quite the player in the old days, but as soon as he met Ortensia, all those random bunny floozies were ancient history for him.]

Nope, I didn't. Guess my lucky feet kept me safe. [He chuckles briefly, though it's not entirely convincing. This is still a pretty dubious topic.]

So... How 'bout you?

[ TOTALLY NOT DEFLECTING HIS QUESTION... ]

Oh, yeah! [He lifts one of his legs to remove a foot. Yes, you read that correctly. Then he holds it up for Xion to see, seemingly having no problems with balancing on just one leg.]

See? I can just rub it on anything and it turns lucky. [Or so he likes to believe. It's never been proven to work.]

Come by any time you want! I'm not going anywhere today, so I can find the box right away.

Xion? What's happened?

Thank you so much. I'm sorry to rush you... I'll come by now, okay? [ literally goes ... right this second. ]

Um... nothing happened, it's just... after that experiment... [ a small pause. ] ... I really need that letter. I need to see for myself that it's real...

Yes. The door's unlocked, so just come right in. [He's worried by her urgency. For some reason he imagines that she got hurt during the event.]

Did something happen last week, Xion?

[ ooooooooooon her way. might even be jogging. yep. though she does slow at his question. ]

... a lot of things happened last week. [ that's not an answer. ] I... [ a beat. ] ... I'll explain when I get there, okay? It's kind of a long story...

[ and she owes Tsuzuki, after all. so she'll shut her journal, and hurry over. she was near the middle of town, so it doesn't take her very long to turn up at the door. ... and knock. he may have told her to just come in, but it feels rude... ]

[Closing the communicator too, Tsuzuki barely has time to pull the box out of its hiding spot before he hears the knocks.]

[He hurries down the stairs, wiping the dust bunnies of the box. Maybe hiding it under the bed had been a bad idea.]

Xion! Come in. Do you want to sit down? You sounded like it was an emergency.

[ The reply comes in sometime in the mid-morning, erring on the side of early -- before she even talks to Sokka, though if Xion takes a while to reply back that may change. She had been planning to hold back on talking to anyone until people forgot about the love event...or at least until no one might think about where she was or connect it to the scene she may have caused in Seventh Heaven. But...well, it was Xion, and it was filtered. That much she could do. ]

I'm fine. [ Though she sounds rather irritable. She frowns, shakes her head, and collects herself so that her tone sounds a little more like her usual self -- if still a little grumpy. ] ...What about you?

... you sure?

[ shaaaaakes her head. ] I'm fine! Really. [ she means it. ] ... I haven't got everything worked out yet, but ... right now, I'm okay.

[ a pause, then a sigh. ] I guess I'm at the same level of okay, then. I haven't talked to Sokka yet. ...Or Suki.

[ .....and then she remembers their conversation. ] But for my own part, I'm great. Everything is back to normal -- not that normal, I mean being completely friends-only. That was just.... Well, maybe I'm feeling a little humiliated, but I don't have anything to feel sad about. Honestly.

[His response is sometime after making things right with Suki. All in all, his response is a positive one.]

[ ... oh. ]

Wait, really? So everything's okay?

Yeah... actually, you probably won't see me for a week. Me and Suki are gonna go spend some time away from the village. You know, typical super dating stuff.

she ... laughs. ]

Whatever you say. But I'm happy for you, Sokka. Really. I'm so glad things worked out!

Yeah, it's like... the next stage of dating. [Right before engagement, but let's not say that just now, eh? Eh?]

Hey, I think I know what I'm talking about here. There is a next stage! I just had to make a name for it.

[jumpy, you say? hopefully a certain spiky head waving at Xion from a few feet away won't spook her, but Sora's about as subtle as a brick to the head when it comes to approaching people. poor guy's been forced to just... try to take everything in stride around here, watching everyone fall in love with each other. rolling with the punches is something he can do, though; he always has.]

[ HEART ATTACK.

.. okay, not quite that drastic, but she still jumps. but when he, you know, doesn't have red hair, she relaxes with a ginormous sigh, then smiles weakly and waves him over. ]

[... whoops. but Sora accepts that invitation and strides right on over, hands planted behind his head.]

You all right? You almost jumped out of your skin there.

I'm fine! [ not fine. nervous fidget. ] ... just ... sorta trying to avoid someone right now. [ laughs a little. ] It's nothing bad, there's just ... something I have to figure out first.

Ah-- Well, maybe I can help out with something?
