[ Xion had walked into the clothing store in the village square as her normal self. Just a sixteen year old Poppet picking up some warmer clothes for winter, nothing new.

She darts back outside just a minute later, looking deeply bewildered and rather ... different. For one, she's suddenly three inches taller than she was a moment ago, and somehow her hair has grown to hang a good four inches past her shoulders. Not to mention she seems to have filled out that teenage body of hers. This is definitely a woman, one who seems to be in roughly her mid twenties.

Considering she was just in the clothing store, she's dressed rather impractically for the weather in loose, flowing black pants and a black camisole. It's an outfit more appropriate for working out in... and given the bow she has in her hands and the quiver of arrows on her back, it looks like that's what she was just doing.

An arrow is now nocked on that bow as she stares around in growing alarm, before her eyes narrow in thought and frustration. Down goes the bow, and the arrow goes back in its quiver.

Give her a moment or two, and she'll have darted back into the clothing store to grab a coat before heading to the fountain, bow once again over her chest, reading her journal as she goes.

When she speaks, her voice has changed a little, too -- it's only slightly lower, but somehow she just sounds older. ]

This isn't... this isn't the Luceti I was just in. Just a second ago it was summer, and I'd been... it doesn't matter.

[ this young woman is frowning rather severely at her journal, her mind obviously working a mile a minute as she thinks. ]

... is there something strange going on? Can anyone tell me when this is? What year is it? Something doesn't seem right.

[ there's a pause, now, and a little bit of anxiety as she proceeds. ] ... is everyone still--? ... dad? Axel, Roxas? ... Riku?

[ unconsciously, Xion raises a hand, pressing her fingers to her mouth in worry and in thought. The observant may notice that there seems to be a plain gold band around her ring finger. Surely that can't be a wedding ring? She'll drop her hand before you can get a closer look, though. ]

Please, tell me what's going on.

[Luceti's gone insane.

That's Sanji's concrete analysis. Which isn't so different from any normal day, but every half hour he's deserved another angle on past experiments, either coupled with something else or going way beyond the limit of their predecessors.

What makes him nervous is he's still not affected.

It makes for a distracted chef, who passes by the fountain, completely unaware of who's sitting there. Maybe some time in Seventh Heaven'll keep his busy...]

Da-!

[ Xion manages to clap her hand over her mouth at the last second. Ten years back in time... she remembers, at least, exactly when Sanji did make the decision to adopt her.

And she was older than sixteen when it happened. Right now, he's not her dad. Something about his body is different, like he's lost a little bulk, and even if his hair is parted correctly, he's lacking the facial hair...

Momentarily rocked by seeing the man she thinks of as her father ten years younger and certainly not her adoptive father anymore, Xion has to shake herself out of a daze before she can call out again, pulling her coat tight around her as she stands up. ]

Sanji!

[Sanji doesn't know anyone named Da, and it's certainly not his name. Thus there's no move to turn around or even pay attention until he hears Xion call out for him properly.

All at once he recognizes the voice - it's hard not to. But the added weight of adulthood strikes him as odd and unfamiliar.

He stares a good second or two before recognition floods his face]

Xion-chan? [Her... she ... what]

[ yikes. that actually stings a little, that it takes a second, but she knows it's not his fault. if he's really ten years younger, this must be a shock. she smiles a little hesitantly at him. ]

Yeah, it's me. ... Hi, Sanji. [ it's there, by the way. the necklace he gave her for her birthday, all those years ago. the coat is just open enough at her neck for it to peek through.

since she is holding her coat closed instead of having buttoned it up like an intelligent person (or a person not in a mild panic), Sanji might get a glimpse of the ring on her finger, though if he makes anything of it or not is up to him. ]

[.... You're older.

You're very older. And he takes in every detail in the span of a few seconds.

Alright, gotta be the shitty experiment. That... is she married? To who? Wait, but if she's just older, she shouldn't-- What the hell is going on here?]

[... Fuck it.]

Xion-chwaaaaaaaaan~! All grown up into the lovely goddess I knew she would be~!

[ oh, that makes her laugh. and she needed to laugh. ]

Sanji! [ she actually does take a second now to properly button up the coat, so her hands are free. ] Hee, that's sweet. I'm twenty five now, you know. Or, um... twelve is my real age. [ slightly crooked smile. it's obvious she thinks of herself as twenty five, even if that's not the actual truth. ]

.... Shit, you're older than me.

[He grins and shakes his head. Not that he minds. It's more prevalent to figure out exactly what the Malnosso did here, anyway.]

Uh. Xion-chan. I'm sure you've already noticed but...

[ her smile slips, and she nods, expression suddenly serious. ]

An experiment. I know. As far as I can tell, I've been Shifted ten years into my own past. I've already heard from alternate versions of Giles and Sokka... [ she shakes her head. ] Are you okay? How's Ginko? [ that escapes her before she can think about it -- but she tries to leave it at just that. nothing wrong about asking after the mushishi, right? shoot, she can't remember if she was friends with him back then -- now? -- or not. ] And the crew! Are they okay?

[That's... that can't be it. And Sanji blinks, bemused. It'd make more sense to label her the victim of an age-up.

Except who's to say she's not right, either? The Malnosso shitheads already have that type of power. In fact, does the answer matter right now? She's affected somehow, and will stay affected until the experiment's over.

He'd rather be grateful this is (hopefully) the extent of the damage. Xion's healthy and okay - just older.]

Ginko? [Another moment of bemusement. He didn't realize they were friends] Yeah, that shithead's fine so far. Same with the crew.

[and then a pause] The future, huh...

[ she looks relieved, placing a hand over her chest as she sighs. ] Good. I'm really glad to hear that.

[ a beat, then, at his thoughtful last sentence. her eyebrows draw up, and smiling a rueful smile, she now holds up her left hand, purposely showing off her ring. ]

The future. Way in the future. Things... things have changed.

[Ticking up an eyebrow]

.... So. Who's the lucky guy?

[Please don't let it be who he thinks it is]

[ it is exactly who you think it is, Sanji.

Xion looks away for a moment, wondering how best to phrase this. She remembers only too well how sour things once went between her and Riku, and how angry Sanji was over it.

So instead of answering his question directly, she says something else. ]

You know, Sanji... you ... you gave me away at my wedding. [ finally she looks back at him, smiling shyly. she's trying to say something by this -- perhaps and if you did so, you must have been okay with it -- and hoping he'll pick up on the implication. ]

[... Skip Riku for now. He gave you away?

He's, frankly, surprised enough to gape]

I did? [Not Axel? Or Roxas? His expression is no doubt asking that much]

[ ... she shifts. this is getting into territory she's not sure she wants to broach. telling him the future -- what if doing so changes it?

after a moment's hesitation, she settles in the truth. nothing else will do right now. ]

... there's -- when I first saw you, did you hear what I started to call out? I ... was saying "dad." You ... adopted me when I was around eighteen or so.

[He's not sure which reaction is stronger - the pure shock that comes from hearing he might be in Luceti for another ten years (even if this could be nothing more than a fabrication on the Malnosso's part)... or just happiness that he might be a father in any sense. Besides All Blue, it's one of the few things he really wants in life.

This is a lot to take in. And he wrestles with it. But unbeknown to him, he's smiling at the thought]

... Really?

[ oh, hey, he's smiling. that's a good sign. she tentatively smiles back. ]

Yeah. The day you told me you were going to do it I couldn't stop crying... [ she laughs ] It's one of my happiest memories. I guess somewhere along the line I just got used to calling you dad.

[you would, Xion. Sanji laughs, albeit sheepishly, at the thought of you crying yourself to tears and him no doubt grinning while hugging you to death.]

I'm glad I get that chance. [He mutters it softly, like he's still in awe over here]

........................ [And then he does the equivalent of a mental keysmash]

Riku's my son-in-law?!

[ Xion smiles, and -- would say something, but then he pauses and gets that look on his face.

that mental keysmash look.

Xion blinks upon hearing his question, just ... staring at him for a moment. and then, with a "pfffffff," she bursts out hysterically laughing.

And does not stop for about a minute. though somewhere in there, she manages to choke out a "yes!" ]

[GURL THIS AIN'T NO LAUGHIN' MATTER.

Sanji doesn't like this future. Send it back.

... Alright, on a serious note. He plops a hand right on top of her head into a ruffle, very over-exaggerated, long-suffering sigh included.]

Tch. Fine, I get it. He makes you happy. The shithead better.

Maybe I should start forgiving him now.

[ okay okay gosh. she'll be serious. she calms her laughing, though she's still grinning when he ruffles her hair. but it's his last sentence that really sobers her up, and her smile dims to something much softer. ]

... he didn't propose to me until we were in our 20's. It ... didn't exactly happen overnight. It took a long time before things were really okay again between us. But... I trust him with my whole heart, and he's never let me down since.

[ she runs the fingers of her other hand over the ring, smiling at it in a thoughtful way. ] I wouldn't have married him otherwise. [ now she looks up, her expresion fond ] You taught me that. That I deserved to be treated well.

[Way to soften him up.

That's not the reason he smiles, though. That's a result of him being struck silent again - the added weight of maturity ... truly suits her.

You really grew up, Xion. And that makes him all the more proud]

Alright, you've sold me.

I'm not trying to sell you! [ she laughs. ] Really, I guess he sold me.

... and just so you know, Axel and Roxas were of course at the wedding. [ the corner of her mouth quirks, remembering their faces. ] It was just... well, it's supposed to be the father who gives his daughter away, right? [ tiny smile. ]

Yeeeeeeeees~! The father taking his little girl down the aisle~! [Excite Sanji is excite]
