[ Xion sits down to make this post in her room, quietly unhappy about it, but knowing she has to persevere. He wouldn't want her to be sad, she knows it.

She'll have to find a new teacher.

But Xion finds she just can't sit still, and rises, speaking as she moves down the hall. ]

For anyone who knew him... Longshot has...

[ then she notices something. Sora's door is slightly ajar, and the inside of the room...

as if entranced, Xion slows, then moves towards it, giving a gentle push. ]

Gone ...

[ it's empty. the room is empty, completely bare of any sign that Sora was ever there. ]

... home.

[ and that's it. Xion has lowered her journal, giving an upside-down view of the wall through the journal's camera as she stares at this empty room.

it takes a moment -- a long, numb, endlessly empty moment that may go on for two or even three minutes -- for Xion to sink to her knees. only then does she finally, slightly, come back to her senses. she adds her final statement in a voice that, while even, is just barely above a whisper. ]

And ... and Sora ... Sora has also ... gone home.

[ if heartbreak had a sound, it would sound like her voice. for anyone who replies to her over the journals, it will be some time before she responds. housemates will likely get to her first. ]

[Axel was already on his way home after he first heard the start of Xion's entry, but a few minutes later when the second part comes through? Yeah, he's going a lot faster.

It's probably about five or so minutes later that Axel's coming through the front door in a hurry, going straight to Sora's room. Seeing Xion slumped there in his doorway makes his chest tight. He stops next to her, staring into the empty room. Axel's expression is blank and he's quiet.]

[Roxas heard Xion's announcement over the journal, and even in stereo seeing how he was about to enter her room. But no. No. He doesn't know who Longshot is, and at this point that thought's totally erased. It was the latter statement that rattled him.

Sora has also gone home. No way, not again. Sorry Xion, bffl will come back later but right now he's bolting out of the house, opening the front door with a loud bang and sprinting into the center of the village. He's going to hunt down Sora and bring him back, you'll see!]

... Hey.

Xion.... [ Fenimore might not recognize either name, but boy is it obvious that these were important people to Xion, particularly the last one. ] Do you...?

[ She takes a deep breath and continues with less hesitation. There's no point in asking Xion if the other girl wants to talk--she should just do it. Fenimore didn't believe in giving people space when they were upset. ] Where are you?

[ she doesn't move. she doesn't stand up. she doesn't even look up at him.

she just quietly shuts the journal and sets it on the ground.

she still doesn't move when Roxas blows past behind them, running out of the house as fast as his legs can carry him.

Xion's always been the more defeatist of the various Pieces of Sora. she knows it's a lost cause, and so does not follow.

in that same, soft voice ]

... Axel?

[And...it's a very long time before Roxas comes back, much slower and quieter than before he left. It's assumed that Axel has already had a chance to speak to Xion, but Roxas again isn't focused on that. He's just going to head through the house and let himself into Xion's room, stopping in front of her and just staring with the same blank expression. Maybe words don't even need to be said just yet.]

[ it's at least two hours later before Xion gets back to this. Sorry. She only barely recognizes his voice from when they first met, and she really just ... had other priorities.

even so, she doesn't know how to reply to it. the loss of Sora is still too profound to even process properly. ]

... hey.

[And here, Xion, just the person you wanted to hear from. She doesn't speak for a moment, even though she's fairly close to the house. She's out on the bridge she usually hangs out on, looking at the river for now and letting Xion's words sink in. When she does speak, her voice is soft and slightly hesitant, unsure how the other girl will react.]

...Xion? Is it true?

[ She's there, sitting on the bed with her hands clasped in her lap. Almost like she was waiting.

In a way, she knew he was coming.

Xion looks up at him, and their expressions are perfectly mirror each other. Without a word she stands and crosses to him, gently taking both his hands in her own while resting her forehead against his, shutting her eyes.

They're both a part of him. They're supposed to be with him.

More than anyone else, Xion understands exactly how Roxas must feel. ]

[ only, only for Kairi does Xion respond to a voice from the journal quickly. her response is almost immediate, in fact, her voice just barely laced with her sadness. ]

All his things are gone.

[ even for Fenimore, it takes Xion some time to work up the ... feeling, the ability, to reply. It's about half an hour.

her voice is quiet, so quiet. ]

At my house. Fenimore... Can I -- see you a little later? Tonight?

[ she needs the time. she wants to see her friend, she does, but right now ... right now she needs to be with those people closest to Sora. ]

[Axel hears Roxas storm past them but it doesn't even faze him, he's still just stating into Sora's room. He doesn't look down at Xion when she calls his name, only steps around her to move inside the now empty space there. He doesn't say anything for a long moment, just trying to take it in.

Sora's really gone.

There's a few more seconds of silence before the sound of the bottom of Axel's boot kicking the dresser is heard. Hard enough to force it back against the wall and probably leave a mark.

Stupid Sora. Stupid emotions he made Axel feel when he shouldn't. Stupid—]

Sora.

[Axel finally turns to look down at Xion now. When he speaks his voice sounds so betrayed.]

He'll be back.

[...Ramirez recognizes that voice. And moreover, like others, he can recognize that tone. It's the tone of realizing that someone you love has just completely disappeared from your life.

His first instinct is to stay silent and give the girl space to grieve, but...his heart reaches out to her. His lips form the words before he can stop himself; it's suddenly very important that Xion knows that she is not all alone.]

...My condolences.

[...But what empty, meaningless words they were. Was that really the best he could do? In an instant, he wishes he didn't say anything at all.]

[He's really not too surprised. They're alike, after all. He doesn't try to push her away when she takes his hands, his expression still mirroring hers.

To be frank, this sucks. This whole thing sucks, and Roxas knows it's not fair to either of them. There's too much uncertainty to the whole thing, too many unanswered questions, but he won't speak until Xion's ready. Chances are, he's not ready either.]

...Sure. [ And if it's later for visiting, that probably means no talking, either. But she can't resist asking at least one last question. ] You're not alone, right?

[And that confirms it. It was like this when Sora left her the first time, like this when Sora left the second time, but he always came back. Always. He had been here for so long this time, she'd really thought...] No! [And the journal's slamming suddenly. Hold that thought, Kairi's running straight home.]

I'm not. [ but her voice catches on the last word, strangely rough-edged. she's not alone, not physically, but without sora....

without sora.... ]

I'll see you later. I promise. [ she shuts the book. she doesn't want to break down in front of Fenimore twice. ]

[ Even then, still, she is quiet for a while, just standing there with him. What are they going to do ... without Sora?

Probably a few minutes pass like that before she speaks. Her voice is still quiet, lacking in inflection. ]

Axel said he'd come back.

[ ...That voice is heartbreaking. After a few moments of silence, even though she knows that Xion has cut off the communication, Fenimore still replies. ]

Yeah. Whenever you're ready. [ And she closes her own journal. ]

[ still, Xion doesn't move an inch. even at the loud bang of Axel's heel connecting with the dresser, she doesn't even flinch. like all the life has gone out of her.

it's only when he turns to face her, having said Sora's name aloud, that she lifts her head and looks up. the tone in his voice is mirrored in her eyes -- for a moment, before she narrows them slightly in pain and sadness and looks away. ]

Like Riku?

[ without any real inflection, though it is, perhaps, a little unkind. ]

... Do you... need someone?

[ ... Ramirez. Xion recognizes his voice, too. Still so formal and kind of sad. But it's still roughly half an hour -- a little longer than it took for her to reply to Fenimore -- before she responds to him.

She's not exactly sure what a condolence is. It sounds sad. ]

... Ramirez?

... sorry ...

[ though she knows Kairi won't hear her. instead, she'll be here. waiting. ]

Axel says a lot of things. [The response was quicker than it should have been, and he stops again after that. Axel might be his best friend, but he's aware that Axel may have said that just to make Xion feel better. Hell, maybe just to make himself feel better, did they really know if Sora would come back this time? If the worlds needed him, Luceti couldn't keep him forever.]

But maybe he will. [But even his tone says he's not too sure anymore.]
