... you know, it looks like everything is back to normal, but... something still feels weird, to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, though. Is anyone else noticing something strange going on...?

Then again, considering Luceti, there's always something strange going on.

[This one is out and about in town, a bow slung over his shoulder and his journal in his hand as he talks into it. Despite his much shorter, choppier hair and two new inches of height, he's very recognizably Xion -- the eyes and face give him away.

But unlike his female counterpart, he's got on black pants and a black t-shirt; no color to be found here. He'll be wandering here and there in town, inspecting the lack-of-damage and the lack-of-monster-rain.]

[... a flicker of a smile crosses his face, and he nods, heading over in that direction.]

[He takes a seat with only a mild look of wariness - you being a guy is still so weird - but it soon passes. Say what you need to then, Xion. AU or not, he makes a great soundboard.]

[leans his arms on his knees and sighs. he's got a lot on his mind. but since Longshot mentioned knowing Sokka once before...]

... does Sokka seem any ... different to you?

[There's a raised eyebrow. Jarroh back to the journal entry he saw Sokka make the other day. Nothing seemed off about it...

He shakes his head no, but puts his chin in one hand. He knows the Avatar can be a jerk sometimes - if Xion is bringing him up like this, he's probably going to be here for a while.]

[blows out a breath. a little bluntly:]

So he's just always been a jerk?

[Bit of a shrug with an apologetic look. Though now he's wondering what Sokka did this time. True, he's only known him for the few months he's been in Luceti, but he heard those rumors back in the Fire Nation...]

[cups his chin in his hands and stares straight ahead, looking a little miffed.]

The Sokka I remember wasn't callous about people's feelings. He actually cared, unlike the one I spoke to. He was practically mocking me, and... wouldn't tell me the truth about something that happened between us when we met. And... [drops one hand to lightly pound a fist against the ground.] ... I'm not sure what to think.

[There is a crease in his brow when he finally does speak. Selfishness is one of Sokka's less admirable qualities. Another moment, but then he bothers to prod just a little.]

About him, or something else? [The difference in answers sets the whole tone for this conversation, really, otherwise he wouldn't ask.]

... both, I guess. Mostly him. He made me think that I might have... betrayed someone I really care about, and if that's true ... then he forced me into doing it against my will. [grimaces.] If this is what Sokka is really like, then I don't want to be friends with him anymore. But he was never like that in my memories...

[Jarroh nods along to Xion's line of thought, agreeing. He can't suggest what decision for him to make on whether or not to be friends with Sokka, though - it's a tricky thing whether you're a girl or a guy, seeing as the Avatar isn't always exactly sincere.]

...That's up to you. You shouldn't question yourself, though. Sokka just doesn't like to think of himself as the bad guy.

[silent for a moment, fingers digging idly into the ground beside him. he nods, knowing Longshot's right -- it's better to trust his own instincts. but there's still something bothering him.]

... something happened last month, though. Something really bad, and ... I trusted Sokka with my life. But... what if the Sokka I remember isn't the real one, and this is how he really is? He really came through for me, but...

[sighs and kicks lightly at the ground.] Stupid Luceti.

[He shakes his head, agreeing with that sentiment. Stupid Luceti indeed. There's really no way of telling if something weird is going on, is there?]

[After that, Xion will lapse into silence for a while, too. It doesn't feel awkward, with Longshot, and Xion just enjoys his company right now. No questions, nothing to answer for. It's a welcome reprieve.]

[There's a vague hint of a smirk on his face at that - if there's anything he can appreciate, it's a comfortable silence. Even if it comes from someone he's used to being a girl.

From how short a time he's known Xion though, the two at least seem about the same. That makes this less jarring at least, he thinks.

After a moment, Jarroh reaches into a pouch and pulls out a small bag, in which another version of himself kept lychee nuts instead of what he's palming now. After nomming on his snack a little himself, he offers the bag to Xion. Fire flakes?]

[Bit by bit, Xion starts to relax, too. The day has already been stressful, so the peace and quiet is welcome.

He tilts his head and blinks at the offer, then smiles a little and nods, taking some. It's easy to fall into nonverbal communication when Longshot's involved.

... so, are fire flakes spicy at all? Because if so, Xion's about to make some hilarious faces.]

[Like spicy popcorn. Don't let it be said that he doesn't have a sense of humor.]

[Xion may have to reassess his opinion of you, Longshot, because apparently you are secretly evil.

Hilarious faces are a go as Xion pops the fire flakes in his mouth, chews... and gags. He's never EVER, not once in his life, had spicy food before, and this is a huuuuuge and kind of unpleasant shock. Coughing and screwing his face up, he fans a hand at his mouth and gives Longshot the most indignant look ever.]

What is that?!

[He can't help it, he chuckles at that look. He's probably feel a little bad if he knew Xion had never eaten anything like that before. Even so, he's pulling out his canteen to hand to the other boy.]

Fire flakes.

[just makes a face at him, though he accepts the canteen to take a drink or two and get the taste out of his mouth.]

You could have warned me! Bleh. [sticks his tongue out, still fanning his mouth a little as he hands the canteen back, though the sensation has dulled.] I don't think I've tasted anything quite like that before.

[Ah. Faintly apologetic look now.]

[shakes his head, smiling crookedly] It's okay. I mean, there's a first time for everything, right...? [laughs. LONGSHOT HOW DID YOU MAKE HIM FEEL SO MUCH BETTER.]

[Heh - he nods to that. He's glad you seem to be in a better mood now too. He offers the fire flakes once more - try again?]

[shakes his head, smiling.] I think I've had enough for one day.

[Fair enough - he puts the fire flakes away.

He should probably go, actually. Before he does though, he taps the bow strapped to Xion's shoulder.]

[blinks, then smiles a little.]

I've been practicing. ... [almost embarrassed.] A lot.

[may or may not have late-healing bruises on the inside of his left arm from some initially incorrect technique.]
