[ She swallows a yelp when he yanks her into the room, left standing there, blinking.

.... but soon her surprise changes to muted understanding, and she reaches out. Whether he wants her to or not, she's going to pry his arms open, away from his chest, and take his hands.

All she'll say, quietly, is one thing: ]

I know.

[And he allows all of this, frowning all the while and keeping his eyes downcast. He lets his hands rest in Xion's, that frown threatening to turn into a pout.]

You've seen him, too?

I spoke to him. He knew me. [ She sounds awed. ]

...he remembers everything?

... no. [ Her face falls a little. ] I wish he did. But ... he knows me somehow. I don't understand it.

Well what did he say to you?

He said... that I was someone connected to him. That I was in his dream...

But I don't know what dream he could be talking about. How can he remember who I am...?

...have you talked to Riku lately? [He's starting to piece things together. Very slowly, but surely.]

Yeah... you too? [ She thinks she sees what he's getting at. ]

Yeah. [A beat...and then in the smallest voice ever.] ...did he tell you about Axel?

September 5th, action

[fourteen]

[ Her breath immediately catches as something tightens in her chest. She lifts a hand, briefly covering her mouth, trying to fight off sudden tears. ]

... he's alive. Roxas, he... he's human. All this time...

[ ... all this time, it hurt so much, because we thought he was gone forever. ]

[There's a long silence following that. For some reason, hearing Xion say the words has more of an impact than hearing Riku's version. He wants to believe that it's true, he wants to believe that there's even the slightest possibility that he'd get to see Axel again...

...but what if something changed again? What if he got his hopes up and when he finally got home, everything was ruined? It was too much of a risk to take at face value, and it hurt just knowing that it could possibly be a thing. When he does speak again his voice is still very quiet, and it's obvious that he's forcing himself to remain calm for Xion's sake.]

...so you believe what he says? Riku, I mean. You believe that Axel came back and helped them? [He finally looks up, daring himself to look her in the eye.] You really think we'll get to see him again?

... I just don't think he'd lie. Why would he say that if it wasn't true...? [ Her smile turns a little hollow. ] Xemnas said he wanted us to be human again... obviously that wasn't true. But maybe it was always possible... and we just didn't know how.

So... so I hope so. I really want to believe that.

Maybe he's misunderstanding. Maybe it's not really our Axel. Who knows why Riku says what he says. [But Xion does have a point...Xemnas hid a lot from them.]

But...okay, so maybe it's possible. What does that mean for us though?
