[As soon as she gives him the okay, he grins and slips right in, lugging the bookbag behind him and dropping it in a chair next to her bed with a thump. Man that was heavy.]

Hey! Guess I came at a good time, huh? I was trying to time it just right after Luke dropped you off.

You came at the perfect time! I even managed to get in a nap. [ She smiles warmly at him, sitting up a little further against her pillows. ] I was really tired after all that walking.

I bet. Takes a lot out of a person. [And since his bookbag is taking up that chair, he'll have a seat right here on the edge of the bed.] Think you're going to be going out a bit every day now?

I'm going to try! I need to start walking more. I wouldn't mind a little help. [ Her smile is a question. Luke needs a break, too. ]

[Yeah, he gets it.] Say the word and I'll be there. I bet we can get Axel to help, too. [A beat.] ...the house feels weird without you. When do you think you can come home permanently?

[ ... she smiles a little, thinking of her conversation with Axel ... but manages to switch gears to what Mia said, instead. ] Probably in just a few more days. It shouldn't be too much longer.

Stupid. [He's just going to shift on the bed, staring at the ceiling.] But I guess it's better than nothing.

...hey. Can I ask you something? Do you remember the first day I came to visit you after the attack happened?

[ That brings her up short. His expression is suddenly so serious... and her eyebrows draw up, a little. ]

... you were here, weren't you? For a few days, I was convinced I'd just dreamed that. ... all I remember is you saying you fixed something. But... [ She pauses, looking down at her lap. ] ... this is about Vanitas, isn't it?

Yeah...and yeah. [He nods to himself, unable to really look her in the eye at the moment.] I think you know what I have to say, don't you?

He's dead.

Yeah. He is. Does it bother you?

... I don't know. I keep thinking about it... I'm not sure how to feel. [ She shakes her head, looking upset. ] I knew that... before long, something would snap... I knew Vanitas couldn't escape punishment forever. But he's died twice now... I know he earned it both times, and he's awful, but I just... [ A sigh escapes her. ] I wish none of this had happened at all. Maybe now he'll finally stop.

I hope so...I really don't want to have to kill him again. But you know Vanitas. How can you wish it never happened?

[ She shakes her head. ] That's not what I mean. I mean ... I wish he'd never started any of this. I wish he'd never attacked Axel, or Sora, or ... or me. I wish he hadn't gone after Ven. I just wish none of that ... had ever happened. But I guess ... that's just the way he is.

He's Ven's darkness. The Unversed come from him...it's his nature. We can't change that no matter what...can we?

No ... I guess not. [ Could they? Change Vanitas... someone who seems to be made of malice. It seems unlikely at best... ] Ven's darkness... it's so strange. He's kind of like a Nobody, but he's different.

...you know...he said something really interesting to me right before he died. He said..."everything's broken. We were supposed to be like you." What do you think that means?

[ She pauses, her eyes widening a little. What an ominous statement... ] I have no idea. Like you? ... who did he mean by "we"?

Maybe him and Ven? That's all I can think of, but why would they think they were supposed to be like me?

... I dunno. [ Her brow creases, and she shakes her head. ] I guess ... the only thing I can think of is that he didn't just mean you.

So that means he meant you and me, or me and Sora, or all three of us. I might have to talk to him when he gets back.
