[ The moment the experiment ended, and Xion found herself once again in the body of a teenager, one single thought had occurred to her with absolute urgency and clarity:

I have to get out of here.

And so she had, taking the time only to grab some warm articles of clothing before bolting out of the house and north, into the woods.

Once safely out of sight of the village, she'd searched idly for a while until she found a tree she could climb up into, then done just that, settling herself back against the tree's trunk for a long, desperately needed Think.

It's about three hours later when she finally pulls out the journal she'd managed to grab on her mad dash out the door and address a few people who ... well, she needs to talk things over with. ]

[ this is going to be a bit blunt, since she can't say she knows him that well, but ... but. they're friends, right? ]

[ Xion makes this filter, and then pauses for a long few minutes. It's hard to begin to know what to say. But it might be best to start with the most straightforward question. ]

Hey. How are you?

[ once her filters are done, Xion will continue to chill in her tree for about another hour, pondering her ring-less hand and severely depleted charm bracelet. then she'll make her way down and into the village, though she won't go home. She'll swing by the Straw Hat house to see if anybody she knows is in, then head into the village proper, wandering aimlessly and obviously avoiding home. feel free to run into her anywhere in town ... however, she'll be particularly evasive of anyone in the KH crew, especially Riku and Roxas. She will bolt if she sees either boy. Sorry, guys. ]

I have my correct memories and I'm the right species, which is a noted improvement.

Sleep was helpful, in that regard.

[A beat--] Are you okay?

[If the tree Xion's in happens to have a splash of pink plumage, someone else will be high in the strong boughs above her. It'll be quiet for the first hour or so, then a soft curse and the mumbling of--]

Bah, that's no good at all! The nose is too small and...

[And the sound of paper being crumpled into a ball is heard over heard before, well...a crumbpled up painting will bounce harmlessly off of Xion's head and land squarely in her lap. [Guy and Asch were finally themselves again, and what better way to celebrate than to get out of the house that he's practically been confined to for a whole week and enjoy himself? That's precisely what Luke's doing; specifically, he just left the bakery with two caramel apples - one for now and one for later. His gaze is far away as he walks slowly and nibbles in his apple; Taking care of two children was hard, but they were still his friends, and in a way, it gave him some insight into their personalities of today. Not to mention everything else that happened, what with him being a child and all - although his memories of that are slightly foggy.

It's by coincidence that he catches a glimpse of black from his eye, and upon looking up from his thoughts, he sees Xion. She seems down, so with a glance at the second apple and deciding that he won't be saving this one for later after all, Luke smiles and goes up to her, then hands the treat over to her.]

Hey, Xion.

[Over all, Wolfwood's just about back to normal since his 'chit-chat' with Vash. A few sore joints or faint bruises, but nothing remaining to really tell much of a story. He speaks calmly, sure of himself.]

No need to worry, Miss Xion—he's just fine now. A little depressed at himself, but it'll heal up in a while.

[There she is. And for what Sanji can tell through the journals, she's just fine.

Physically, anyway.]

Yes, Xion-chan?

[Unfortunately for Xion, Riku's been looking for her. So, when he does find her out in the village? He makes the unfortunate mistake of calling out for her.]

Hey, Xion--

[ How about your little replica buddy? Will you be running from him? ]

[ nope. but she may not even notice him at first, so lost in her thoughts is she. you might have to come up and bother her, little Heartless. ]

... how long have you been out there?

[ Well, it's better than it could be. He's a little hesitant, though, because he's not sure... how much of that all Xion remembers, and it was kind of awkward. At least to him. Uh.

Kinda slowly skittering over to her now. Hi? ]

[ this isn't going to be terribly easy for her. she's honestly the tiniest ... tiniest bit frightened, after what happened, but she doesn't want to ever mention this to him. ]

I ... guess you could say I'm working on it. [ a little sheepish. ]

[ once the voice starts drifting down, Xion does blink around, then up, curiously. who on earth....?

and of course, since she's looking up, the ball of paper actually bounces off her forehead, causing her to squeak and flail her hands a little before she gets a proper hold of it. once she unfolds it, she can't help but admire it for a while. to her, it's beautiful.

after a moment of quiet contemplation, she smiles and looks up again. ]

Hello? Is anyone up there?

[ Xion notices Luke a little belatedly -- that is, only once he holds out the caramel apple. Initially she blinks, a little taken aback, but then ... her expression just melts into a warm smile, even her shoulders relaxing from their built up tension as she accepts the apple. ]

Hey. [ she gives the apple a tiny, experimental lick, then smiles a little wider at him ] You just happened to have an extra, huh?

... yeah, I figured he would be. He was pretty scary. [ she tries to say this lightly, but it ends up carrying a little of her fear. ] But it wasn't his fault. I just hope he doesn't beat himself up over it for a long time or anything.

But... are you okay?

... this might be a little blunt, but...

[ she has to know. she tries to keep the inflection out of her voice -- unsuccessfully, but it's probably hard to read anyway, there's such a welter of emotions going on there. a little desperation, hope, sadness, fear, anxiety, uncertain excitement... ]

... would you really adopt me?

[ BOLTS.

literally, the instant she sees him, she just ... goes. it isn't really intentional so much as reflexive, but once she starts she decides not to stop, even if the emotions in her are just utterly confused and conflicting right now.

Xion is silent for a moment. At least, with Naoki, she knew in advance what was coming. But processing this now... Richard is a surprise. A big one. She never would have expected this quiet, gentle man to be...

then again, what is Naoki but gentle? and she isn't exactly monstrous herself. ]

Figuring some things out. That was ... a pretty strange experiment.

A-Actually, yeah. I mean, I don't want it anymore, so- I mean...

[He'll just give up and flop his arms to his sides, making sure that the apple doesn't stick to his pants or anything.] I... guess I just wanted to see you smile. You looked kind of sad, so... [Yeah. He'll just. Glance away. D-Derp?]

[ she remembers so much more than is comfortable, Kohan. but when she does see him, she pauses in her walking, smiling tiredly. ]

Hey, Ri-- ... or maybe I should be calling you Kohan.

[Siiigh, Xion. Yeah, he'll chase, for better or worse. 8<]

[ Xion just watches him stammer and flail for a moment, blinking, headtilting slightly. then she just ... starts to laugh, albeit rather quietly. and hey, it helps cover the dusting of pink that rose to her cheeks. ]

Well, it worked. Thank you, Luke, that was really thoughtful of you. [ she gives the apple another lick, rather charmed, then takes a small bite ] Hehe, it's good! [ she laughs again, her free hand over her mouth for a moment, then lowers the apple as her expression evens again ]

I wasn't really sad... I was just thinking. The last two weeks were ... kind of a lot.

there will be a moment when Xion will get momentarily out of sight. should Riku still follow her trail, before too long he'll discover her all curled up on the ground behind the bakery.

she won't look up at him when she hears him approach, though, rather wishing he'd go away. ]
