[ Axel's not the only one who hasn't been in a certain apartment that much, lately. Xion's been scarce, keeping to herself as much as humanly possible except through journal communication. But right now, despite the cold, she's sitting on a bench in the center of town. At least she's got a puffy white coat on to keep her warm.

She's writing in her journal, at the moment. Doing ... math! Very simple math, just some addition, and murmuring aloud to herself as she does it. 363... 364... 365...

After a sudden pause, she crosses all of her work out, then sets her pen down, staring up at the sky. Despite her quiet voice, the journal picks up what she says anyway. ]

I turn a year old today...

[ Then she shuts the journal, so no one who isn't actually nearby right now will hear this part -- or see her expression turn suddenly sad. ]

And it's okay. Really. I wouldn't know what to do anyway, and, well ... I'd rather make sure my friends are okay first. They're really important to me. So if I have to wait a while ... I don't mind.

[Roxas doesn't look too pleased about hearing the news about Xigbar. But he'll keep that to himself.] Xigbar, huh. [Or not.] ...I'm sorry, okay? All of this just got too confusing.

[He responds to the thank you by drawing a little present and writing "what would you like?"]

[ okay, now she feels bad all over again, for assuming all this stuff. so she's just going to stay quiet for a long moment, and ... fidget. aaaawkwaaaard. ]

... it's okay.

... Hey. Want me to leave you two alone, Xion?

[Because it's none of his business...]

...I should have just told you that. [Gives Riku a side-glance, but otherwise he's going to ignore him.]

[ hmmm. by way of thinking over her answer, she doodles idly around the present for a moment, drawing little swirls and a tiny star. "I've never gotten a present before. I don't know what I should ask for!" ]

[ she gives Riku a look like she may actually panic if he leaves, but then she takes a deep breath. she'll get back to you in a minute, Roxas. ]

Sorry. I don't want to make you stay. I'll talk to you later, okay?

[Right. He'll sloowly get up, that way she has time to readjust, what with her using him as a rock. Or something.

But he nods.]

Don't worry about it. This has nothing to do with me, anyway.

[But he'll get ready to head out.]

Sea-salt ice cream? [that also sounds unappetizing, but she won't comment.]

No problem. And hey, if your friend is anywhere near as stubborn as mine, we have nothing to worry about.

[Roxas watches as Riku gets up and ready to leave, not saying anything and just keeping an eye on him. However, he takes the chance to go ahead and steal his seat. He's going to let Xion talk first.]

Well ... do yo have a favorite song? That would work.

[ p-pause. and a tiny, sheepish laugh. ] I don't know about that... I just try to do the best I can. And it's Xion. Nice to meet you, Luka.

Stubborn? [ Hm. After thinking about that for a moment, she gives a quiet laugh. ] Yeah, he's definitely stubborn. I guess they'll be fine, then. Hopefully they'll just come back sooner rather than later.

Anyway, if I ever find any sea salt ice cream here, you should try it! It's way better than it sounds.

[ she's quiet again, for a moment, watching Riku go. then she glances kind of sideways at Roxas, fiiiighting off the urge to bite her lip. ... it doesn't work. ]

Listen, Roxas ... it's okay. It's not like we can go back and change what's already happened, anyway. Besides, I only just figured out earlier that I turned a year old today ... and I didn't even know what a birthday was until someone told me. So it's really -- it's okay.

I'll believe you. [she still sounds kind of unconvinced though. But the conversation is interrupted by the door of the bakery.]

I'll admit, that's a bit perplexing.

Everyone always tries to do the best they can to be good friends, but people can still easily forget about others in favor of themselves. You, however, don't seem to be that kind of person, even if you just realized it was your birthday and learnt about it, you still worry about your friends. Not everyone would do that, you know. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Xion.

It comes to a stop by the bench, probably kicking up some snow in the process.

[Raven doodles some stars and hearts on the page, followed with a laughing face. What would a girl her age possibly want? He hasn't a clue either.]</font.

[ a tiny gasp, and then she laughs a little more ] I like it!

[ dnw to talk about this. something else, then! ] Don't stop singing, though! It sounds so pretty.

Xion just stares at him blankly for a moment, windswept from the stiff breeze he kicked up -- she's even got a bit of snow on her head, thanks to his sudden stop. Then she blinks, once or twice. ]

... Sonic?

[ she laughs again, drawing little cat ears on the face for no reason in particular. she even colors in some of the hearts.

"Do you read much? I could use a good book." ]

... it's a long story.

[ Normally Xion would totally pick up on that and insist, but BAKERY. A thing she has never seen before! brb ducking inside and staring at everything like :O and then 8D! and then :OOOO all over again. ]

I've never even seen some of these things before... this is so cool!
