[That's enough to send him flailing backwards as he rakes both hands through his hair to get whatever that thing is out of it, but the sucker's holding on tightly enough to a couple of locks that he can't get it out. Instead he just lets out a quiet, though growing sound of pain, because his scalp is pretty sensitive.
Thankfully this, as well as the fact that the ocean was cold, is a very good distraction from thinking about what he was doing just a little earlier.]
